Project duration: 2025
Location: EMO 1,2 Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant
Our long-term client, Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., approached us with the requirement to replace DIWA servers, as the original system no longer met the necessary functions. The DIWA system (Diagnose der Wasserchemie) was used for diagnosing chemical regimes in the nuclear island of the nuclear power plant and thus fulfilled a highly important safety function. Based on the original specification, our experienced programmers developed, programmed, and configured our application with new features under the name DIAVO (Diagnostika vody – Water Diagnostics). Compared to the original version, our solution is more ergonomic, user-friendly, and fully customized to meet the client’s requirements.
Scope of our Activities:
Documentation delivered for this project included:
- Detailed design
- OH&S plan and safety work procedures
- Installation procedures
- Accompanying technical documentation for all stages, archived by the Client
- Pre-commissioning and Commissioning Testing Programs
- Cybersecurity Plan
- Project documentation and as-built documentation
- Project modifications incorporated into the final archived documentation
Supply included:
- HP servers
- 4 x HP Z2 workstations
- 2 x CISCO switches
- 2 x CISCO firewalls
- 10 x HP 24“ monitors
- 500 m of single-mode optical cable
- Fireproof penetrations in cable ducts
Implementation included:
- Laying optical cabling
- Installing and configuring the operating system
- Installing software – WinCC OA 3.20 (server and client version, redundant)
- Installing third-party scripts (FTP and SFTP transfers)
- Optical cable welding
- Connecting new UTP cables
- Installation of fireproof penetrations
The project was completed with the issuance of initial professional inspections and testing of electrical equipment for reserved equipment in accordance with Regulation No. 508/2009 Coll., execution of tests according to comprehensive testing programs, and delivery of complete documentation.
Project by the Numbers:

250
pages of accompanying technical documentation
Project Result
Our application significantly simplifies the Client’s access to data. It enables measurement, calculation, and analysis of selected data, such as water volumes in tanks, temperature, pH, conductivity, and other parameters under various conditions, with visualization in tables, graphs, and historical overviews.
The Client works with seven main categories of signals used in water diagnostics: binary, chemical, influencing, radiochemical, thermodynamic, calculated, and static. Data can also be filtered by technological systems/units or by Units. DIAVO then evaluates the data and, in case of exceeding a threshold value, generates an error message.
Another important functionality is data transfer, meaning the application allows the exchange of information between different systems. A unique feature of this application is its restricted openness, at the Client’s request. Specially trained administrators can program their calculations.
Systems for diagnosing chemical regimes in the nuclear island perform essential operational and safety functions. By monitoring chemical regimes, they help collect selected chemical parameter data and compare monitored values with set thresholds. These systems are a critical component in ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities—something our technical solution for renewing diagnostic servers directly contributes to.
