We Have Obtained the Nuclear Safety Culture Certificate

What is ISO 19443?

ISO 19443 is an international quality management standard specifically designed for the nuclear energy supply chain. It builds on the general ISO 9001 standard and introduces stringent requirements for safety and risk prevention in the supply of products and services for nuclear facilities.

It focuses on items and services important to nuclear safety, raising awareness of its importance among employees and management, and implementing measures to prevent counterfeit, fraudulent, and suspect items.

How Did the Audit Process Work?

The certification process essentially took place in four stages. During the first stage, we conducted a so-called GAP analysis, in which we identified the differences between the current state of the company’s integrated management system and the requirements of ISO 19443. We subsequently incorporated specific nuclear safety requirements into our company processes, such as the management of ITNS items and nuclear safety culture itself. Our employees were informed about and trained in all the changes to our processes resulting from these requirements. An internal audit was then carried out, and based on its results, management reviewed and assessed the readiness of the system. In the second stage, we underwent a pre-audit to assess the suitability of the system’s implementation, ultimately resulting in the decision to proceed with certification. This was followed by the actual two-stage certification audit conducted by Bureau Veritas Slovakia, spol. s r. o. During the audit, the auditors assessed the compliance of our documentation and processes with the requirements of ISO 19443 and verified that the procedures were being effectively implemented in practice.

ENSECO Representatives with the ISO 19433 Certificate

Certificate Presentation

This time-consuming process began as early as 2025 and lasted almost a year, during which our internal processes were thoroughly examined. At the end of this journey, however, we received a well-deserved reward in the form of the official presentation of the certificate to ENSECO’s CEO, Ing. Michal Hrdina, and Head of the Integrated Management System, Ing. Branislav Havlik. The ceremony took place on 5 August 2026 at ENSECO’s premises in Mochovce.

A representative of BUREAU VERITAS SLOVAKIA, spol. s r. o., the company that conducted the audit, Mr. Radoslav Tilandy, symbolically presented the certificate to the CEO of ENSECO, a. s.

As he noted in his speech, this is one of the most demanding audits of its kind. “You are one of only a few companies in Slovakia and Central Europe to have obtained such a certificate,” he added. The certificate also applies to ENSECO a.s. Fióktelepe, our Hungarian branch.

We are naturally proud to have entered this exclusive group and believe we will continue to maintain the high standards we have achieved and demonstrate them again during the recertification process.
